MO508: Confronting the
Powers (4 units)
Charles H. Kraft, Sun-Hee
Kwak Professor of Anthropology and Intercultural Communication
Spring 2005 Pasadena
DESCRIPTION:
Cosmic-level spiritual warfare has emerged during
the 1990s as an important component of evangelical Christian understanding and
ministry. This course explores both
theoretical (including scriptural) and practical dimensions of this relatively
new field. Topics to be treated include
territorial spirits, spiritual mapping, and other focuses of this higher-level
warfare and the place of intercessory prayer, repentance, and church unity in
dealing with them. Case studies by John
Robb, George Otis Jr. (video), Alistair Petrie, and perhaps others will enrich
the course.
LEARNING
OUTCOMES:
• The student will be able to discuss
intelligently the pluses and minuses of a focus on cosmic-
level spiritual warfare from both scriptural and experiential perspectives.
• The student will be able to work out a potential strategy for dealing with
cosmic-level
spiritual warfare in a given ministry situation.
