Thursday, November 20: Muslim Public Affairs Representatives to Speak at Fuller

As part of Fuller Seminary’s focus on the Muslim celebration of Ramadan, Aslam Abdullah, the editor of The Minaret and Sireen Sawaaf, Hate Crimes Prevention Coordinator at Muslim Public Affairs, will be speaking on Fuller’s Pasadena campus at 10 a.m. in the Garth.

Dr. Abdullah will speak on the similarities between Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Ms. Sawaaf will speak about the Muslim community in the U.S., and the affects of September 11th, the War on Terrorism, and the Patriot Act on the Muslim community.

Dr. Aslam Abdullah
is the editor of two prominent Muslim- American newspapers. The Minaret and the Muslim Observer. He has published 11 books and more than 400 papers on issues pertaining to Muslims and Islam. He is vice chairman of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, and previously served as the vice president of the American Islamic College in Chicago.

Sireen Sawaaf is Hate Crimes Prevention coordinator at Muslim Public Affairs and regularly speaks throughout the Los Angeles area on the impact of post September 11th  legislation on the American - Muslim community.
