Former
Fuller Student President
Tess Chai Plans Return to Malaysia
Tess Chai, who was born and raised in Malaysia, first enrolled at Fuller
Seminary in 1989 and graduated two years later with an M.A. in intercultural
studies. After leaving Fuller, Chai went to Bangladesh where she served as a
missionary for eight years.
“These were the best and hardest days of my life and ministry,” Chai recalls.
“But Fuller equipped me well to handle the very tough situations.”
After working in Bangladesh, Chai returned to Fuller Seminary to study for her
Ph.D. in intercultural studies. Over the past three years, Chai served in the
student government, and in 2002, she was voted into the office of All Student
Council President, which she calls the highlight of her Fuller experience.
“Serving on the student government for three years helped me appreciate all the
hard work that goes on among the board of trustees and administration,” Chai
says. “I am very privileged to have this time at Fuller.”
Following graduation, Chai is returning to Malaysia to serve as the academic
dean of a
theological training program where she will teach and train more people for the
Kingdom of God.
