Kim Chul Yong Plans to Return to His Ministry in Indonesia
Pastor Kim Chul Yong, from Korea, expects to graduate from Fuller Seminary this
summer with a master of arts degree. Then, in July, he plans to return to Indonesia.
Prior to coming to Fuller, Kim spent 13 years in Indonesia equipping Christians
and reaching the indigenous population. During that time, he taught at the local
seminary, pastored an indigenous Javaness church, and was involved in equipping
local church leaders.
“I came to Fuller seeking rest and rejuvenation. I also came to study under
teachers who brought to the classroom a wealth of mission experience and
knowledge. I was seeking to become a missionary who had healthy balance of
academic education, spiritual maturity, and real-life mission experience. I
wanted the power of God to flow through me as my weary spirit was refreshed here
at Fuller” Kim says.
Kim believes his stay at Fuller gave him tools to help him develop Christian
leaders in the mission field while gaining tangible understanding and strategies
to reach Muslims. “By coming to Fuller, I have realized many mistakes that I
made in the mission field and the need for humility as I go back to reach the
indigenous people of Indonesia,” Kim says.
Kim and his wife, Kang In Lee, have two children, David and Hye Ji Kim.
