Alyson Zadurowicz, a Messianic Jewish Believer, Ministers to Fellow Jews Worldwide

Alyson Zadurowicz, a Messianic Jew from New Jersey, expects to graduate from Fuller Seminary this September with an M.A. in theology. She is currently helping her husband, Tomek, with their ministry called Messiah’s Harvest, an outreach to Jewish people worldwide, particularly Russian Jews.

Zadurowicz was raised a conservative Jew who loved God, but she says she always “wondered where he was in the midst of all that is fallen in the world.” She says C. S. Lewis’ book Mere Christianity was pivotal in developing her understanding of God and the role of Messiah, but it wasn’t until she fully understood that she could embrace Jesus as Messiah from a Jewish perspective that she committed herself in 1988. Shortly before she converted, her brother became a believer, and later, her parents also became believers.

After committing herself to her new-found faith, Zadurowicz sang and danced in a Messianic choral group ministry for 10 years, traveling to Europe, Russia, Israel, and various places in the U.S., sharing the Messiah in a Jewish context. It was during a trip to Russia that she met her future husband, Tomek.

The couple soon started their own Jewish ministry, Messiah’s Harvest, an online ministry “created to inform, educate, and communicate the message of Jesus/Yeshua through the Internet and new media to people who are responsive to the God of Israel, the Creator of the Universe. It also serves the purpose of mobilizing people to take actions that will further the work of God in the world.”

In order to gain a more solid biblical and theological grounding for their work, the couple enrolled at Fuller Seminary. Zadurowicz says she also came “to determine for myself where I fit in with this ekklesia (church), while also seeking to find my place among my own Jewish people and culture, and longing for their knowledge of Messiah, even as Paul did.”

Zadurowicz enrolled in Fuller’s Messianic courses, which are offered in the summer and winter, which she says enabled her “to better appreciate a variety of both Christian and Jewish traditions, and to discover more deeply Jewish views and understandings of God that enabled me to see, theologically, the viability of Jewish faith and life in Jesus in our day.”

After graduation, Zadurowicz will continue developing Messiah’s Harvest, where she runs the ministry’s office. “I hope to write materials along the lines of a viable Messianic Jewish theology and to grow more in my own connections and life as a Jewish person who is part of the Body,” she says. “I have always had a bridge-builder’s heart, so I also want to help Jews and Gentiles better understand and learn to appreciate one another.

“I felt the Lord brought me to Fuller for such a time as this, and I hope I helped raise some awareness of Jewish issues and viewpoints that relate to our lives and theology as believers.”
