FULLER RECEIVES $1 MILLION FOR
CONFLICT-
RESOLUTION PROGRAM
Fuller Theological Seminary
will receive $1 million in federal funding to support and expand its conflict
resolution program, U.S. Representative Adam Schiff announced on February 25.
The program works with religious, community, and law enforcement leaders to
promote civility and multicultural understanding.
“As a seminary, we have many resources to help nurture interreligious
understanding and resolve conflicts in response to tensions and crises we face
in the world today,” said Richard J. Mouw, president of Fuller Seminary. “We are
so pleased that the United States Congress has recognized Fuller’s ability to
develop models that will one day contribute to resolving these threatening
conflicts. We are grateful to Rep. Adam Schiff for his support for this
significant program.”
Fuller’s Conflict Resolution Program is designed to work collaboratively
with community and law enforcement officers across the country to respond to or
prevent crisis situations involving inter-faith and multi-cultural tensions.
With this added funding, Fuller will be able to better provide training and
guidance on ways to promote multi-cultural understanding, dialogue, and
tolerance in communities across the nation.
“I am very proud to announce this funding that is going toward the important
programs at Pasadena’s Fuller Theological Seminary,” Rep. Schiff said. “I am
confident that with this funding, Fuller’s conflict resolution program will have
a great impact on communities from Pasadena to New York.”
Fuller Seminary is the largest multidenominational seminary in the world, with
more than 4,000 students from more than 60 countries and 100 denominations.
Fuller provides professional and graduate-level education in its schools of
theology, psychology, and world mission. In addition to the main campus in
Pasadena, Fuller has campuses in Irvine and Menlo Park, California; Seattle,
Washington; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Phoenix, Arizona.
